Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all government and contractor areas or facilities (CONUS and OCONUS) have met all DCID and DoD standards for processing, handling and storing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Collateral classified information prior to formal accreditation as an SCI Facility (SCIF) or secure area.
  • Monitor and update existing SCIF accreditations and secure areas, as appropriate.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance for new facilities and those to be renovated.  
  • Analyze complex physical security issues and provide cost-effective recommendations that meet policy requirements. 
  • Perform site security surveys to determine if facilities meet requirements for Facility (SCIF) accreditation. 
  • Work with internal and external organizations for solutions for new and developing physical security programs.   
  •  Provide security guidance to the customer's managers and external customers.  Serve as liaison between the customer and security elements and external customers.

  • Provide recommendations for formal approval of all customer SCIF’s and collateral areas, both government and contractor, CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Ensure compliance with DCID 6/9, “Physical Security Standards for SCIF’s”, and DoD standards for collateral areas and is familiar with all related and supporting DCID’s, DoD policies, standards and Executive Orders.
  • Provide expert guidance that is compliant with existing standards (e.g. access control, intrusion detection systems, locks, destruction devices, secure phones, etc.).
  • Review and, as required, prepare the Fixed Facility Checklist and drawings supporting the accreditation process.
  • Investigate and prepare impact statements, and make recommendations on security violations on SCIF or collateral matters.
  • Update and maintain appropriate records (e.g. database and hardcopy) of accredited SCIF’s, Co-Utilization agreements, collateral areas, status remarks, expirations, inspections, etc.
  • Conduct inspections and performs staff assistant visits.
  • Provide expertise, as required to the Security Customer Service Support Center/Help Desk, in order to assist internal and external customers in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Required:

  • TS/SCI Clearance;
  • Bachelors Degree;
  • 3-6 years experience, or equivalent, including 2 years within DOD/IC;
  • Additional Knowledge and Skills:
    • Significant experience in a distinct functional or cross-functional security areas (e.g., personnel, physical, industrial security; computer investigations; classification management; operational security; security education, etc.) based on the specific needs of the task. 
    • Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices. 
    • Experience directing the activities of security specialists as necessary on activities related to the specified field or discipline.
  • Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification within 1 year of service start date; currently certified is a plus.
