Provides security expertise, guidance, consultation, facilitation, and leadership in all security related functions pertaining to: personnel security; industrial and physical security; computer investigation and awareness; security operations; and other security business. 


  • Monitor security applications through the review and analysis of appropriate metrics and maintains required records with status reports and recommendations for decisions.
  • Investigate and prepare impact statements, and provide recommendations on security/security violations.
  • Liaise with members of the DoD, the IC and other officials as required to keep abreast of current personnel.
  • Interpret security policy on matters pertaining to processing, dissemination, and controlling of classified materials.
  • Prepare both SCI and collateral materials for shipment to other agencies/sites IAW applicable security handling procedures.
  • Risk management – conducts surveys and render impact statements or recommendations.
  • Develop the required program/operation to support tasks/requirements.
  • Apply experience in supporting security concepts, principles and practices to analyze and resolve difficult and complex security issues.
  • Brief, process, and schedule external requests for polygraphs, clearances, debriefs, and background investigations.
  • Create and maintain the polygraph examination scheduling process, maintain metrics of appointments and “no shows”.
  • Establish emergency and contingency plans to protect NGA assets in heightened levels of threat conditions.
  • Perform functions as security control officer by verifying need-to-know processing program access requests, maintain applicable access databases, and conduct indoctrinations, debriefs, and annual training/revalidation, as needed.
  • Ensure that all NGA and contractor areas (CONUS and OCONUS) have met all DoD and IC standards for processing, handling and storing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Collateral classified information prior to formal accreditation as a SCIF or secure area.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance for new facilities and those to be renovated. 
  • Perform and conduct site security surveys, including compliance of technology equipment supporting SCIFs and collateral areas (e.g., access control, intrusion detection systems, locks, destruction devices, secure phones, etc.,), prior to SCIF accreditation.
  • Update and maintain appropriate records, accreditation packages, approvals, (e.g., database and hardcopy), Co-Utilization agreements, collateral areas, status remarks, expirations, and inspections (staff assistance visits), etc.
  • Provide industrial security guidance to contractors using the NISPOM requirements.



  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelor's or equivalent 
  • Min. of 11 yrs. exp. with more than 5 yrs. in the intelligence community focused on IC experience.
  • Extensive exp. in a distinct functional or cross-functional security areas (e.g., personnel, physical, industrial security; computer investigations; classification management; operational security; security education, etc.) based on the specific needs of the task.
  • Exp. may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.
  • Directs the activities of specialists or other staff as necessary related to the specified security field or security discipline. 
  • DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.
